On the topic of God..

…ok…i wasn’t sure if i wanted to post this at first because i have a grave fear of pointing people in the wrong direction when it comes to their own personal pursuit of God, but 2 things made me reconsider: (1) i know for a fact that anyone who seeks God on their own will find Him(Her), regardless of the bumblings of man… and (2) my manager “Jody”said he thinks I should write more on the subject of God and the church…so here goes. but i must say, as if you dont already know, all that follows is purely my opinion which is subject to change as -am I under the consultation of God…i like anybody else am a work in progress- so consideration of what i wrote is fine, but direct yourself to God for the ultimate truth.. (i know, i know, not even that serious right?…well, i felt like i had to say that)

[small intro- my friend's girlfriend posts a convo she has with a pastor on facebook, and tags me in it. what follows is her post and then my thoughts in reply]

Pastor Claude  had added me to his facebook friends list. I assumed that I had met him in church because he was my pastor’s friend on facebook. So i added him. 2nite i saw that he was online and asked him when we met.  He said we were relatives. I was very confused by this. Then he said we were all children of God. So I took it that he just goes around adding random people on fb. Anyway, he asked if i was an adventist. I said I used to be. He asked me why and I told him that I could not find any proof that the Bible is really God’s word. I pointed out that Horus, Krishna, and Mithra to name a few all have pretty much the same exact story as Jesus and they lived way before he was born. Horus 2,000 years b4 Jesus. He told me I would believe anything. I told him that it’s true and he can read it in any historical book.  After calling me some more names i asked him…

My Comment

(1)I find it interesting that he refers to you as “sick”…but does not acknowledge his role as a “doctor”. jesus himself said “look after the sick”

(2)The bible and God are two different things. “God” is recognized as the disputed source of all being, experienced by, but beyond the limitations, definition, and perhaps even understanding of man.

again…BEYOND man, but experienced (felt, “seen”, “heard”) by man…

…the Bible is a combination of jewish and christian writings chronicling the faith journey leading up to and following the birth of Christ.

thusly, the bible is not the inerrant word of God. it is he word of man IN SEARCH OF God.

(3)The message of the bible in regard to sin is we are all sinners saved by GRACE…meaning, we couldnt stop sinning if we tried, but we are not SUBJECT to sin OR its penalty in the blood (ie: life) of christ (at least, that is what is taught in the life and death of christ. ie: what is believed by christians- at least those who know of whom they follow)

(4) Claude was right to advise you to pray (ie: consult God, not man)…but the proof you search for will not be whispered in your ear while you are kneeling at your bed…the proof in what you ask God will mostly likely be revealed in the world around you IN PERFECT time with your ability to understand it.

example: if you were a toddler and you ask me what water was made of, and i gave you the exact chemical makeup of water…would you fully understand it then? …probably not, but in time…all would be revealed…as you sought for said truth..until you were satisfied. Such is the truth of God and his/her law(s)

(5) Evolution and God (contrary to secular schooling) do not cancel each other out. one seeks to answer HOW, the other seeks to answer WHY.

(6)You’re absolutely correct. the story of most saviors follow the same narrative. but the story isnt nearly as important as the MESSAGE. and if we can conclude the same story has been told countless times in countless corners of the earth- as an indication of closeness to unadulterated truth in God, wouldnt you think there must be some underlying communal message of truth deep within EVERY historical savior story? something MAN himself couldn’t even distort/cover up?

and

(7) I have a question for you (you dont have to answer though): in what spirit do you seek the information you ask for? …it’s very clear that you are knowledgeable enough to see error in this pastors rhetoric, but what good does it serve your quest to belittle him and mock his ignorance?

if the God he gives you is one of judgement…and you KNOW this cannot be the true nature of God…ask yourself what IS God’s nature…and present it to your “enemy” that he may be ENLIGHTENED..not persecuted. (just a suggestion)

do not look to man for the face of God. look to God earnestly and without ceasing, and EVERY question you ask will be answered…

..in honor of my new CD (and because i just did a regular 16 thing list not too long ago). I’ve decided to give this list a certain spin. Here are a few insights to the 3 CD’s that precede my new CD [Wet.Plug.Trip]

0-…if you look carefully enough, the cover of “follow me to die” (my 1st CD) contains my birthdate (6.14.1985)

1-..the song “B4eyego2sleep” is spoken to God. the beat is comprised of gun cocks, shots fired, and an incessant beeping like that of a heart monitor. it is meant to symbolize prayer in a time of death and constant war

2-…the song “Discernment” is a letter to the figure in my reoccurring dream in which i am shot

3-…“The Untimely Death of Sah Ril” is a metaphor meant to speak in place of every rapper, as to why he raps, and why rap in and of itself is successful. the “bomb” i identify with in the song has a clock that counts down from 5. the number 5 has many symbolic meanings….

4-…“Datniggastick” is the reading of sah ril’s will as read by his alter ego “stick n move” (a.k.a stick)

5-… the “ms bailey” mentioned in the song “_Minded” was truly my first sunday school teacher, and the first death i remember being privy to…

6-..“The Pk Story” is an honest account of my life up until the creation of that album. All names and
places were not changed, tho rap names (of associates) were used in the 2nd verse

7- the figure on the cover of “rush to the sky” (my 2nd CD) with their hands binded is neither male nor female, but both

7- the 4 walls in question in “These 4 Walls” are the walls of LUST, PAIN, HATE & ENVY. each however can be an individual prison if one crawls too close…

8-the voice in the beginning of “Lonely is..” is the inner voice of every man…

6-“The Walk” (originally titled “the walk of the spider”) was recorded 2 years before everything else on the album, at the beginning of a year long depression that marked the recording of my first album, and ended with a spiritual revelation. it is the first guitar solo i ever recorded. it is the only true solo i have recorded thus far.

5- christopher tracy is a character from prince’s ill-fated “under the cherry moon“. in the movie, his character is a gigolo/pianist who ultimately chooses love over riches. Rush to the Sky is usually referred to as “The Chris Traci Project” which is what is read on the cover, despite the albums true title.

4-“Between Elephants and the Sea” contains an except discussing bob dylan’s analysis of “the freak & the geek”. i find the analysis relatable on many levels. most of all as a black man…

3- at 22 min and 17 sec into track 7 of rush to the sky is a hidden instrumental

2-the lyrics to the song “Lonely Is…” we’re never sung…these are the words..

“lonely is the girl with the cigarette in all my dreams/
everytime she put her mouth on me i’d scream/
i still cant figure out how she got me to come inside/
she asked if was curious enough to take a ride/
lonely is the girl in the magazine that nobody reads/
tho every page i turn shes the only face i see/

1-The Spider is an ancient symbol of mystery, power and growth

1-“Back where the Pain is”(my 3rd CD) (aside from being the first words of the final song on FM2D) is a reference to my being home again (from my stay in alabama) and attempt at addressing the pain i was dealing with during my prior depression

2-“Bus stop beauty” is a story in which a woman walks past me at a bus stop. I spend so much time thinking about what i would say to her that i let her pass. immediately after this, i rewind the moment to right where she is about to pass me, pause it, and tell her how i feel.

3-“Agony and the Ecs factor” is about 2 women who were girlfriends of mine at one point. I am speaking to different women in both verses, but it’s hard to tell because the situations were very similar. The first one is also addressed/referred to in the final track of FM2D. the second woman can be heard speaking on “Sing2Me” …also on FM2d

4-the first verse (before the pause) of “Addicted” (prod by C.Loyale a.k.a Enigma a.k.a Sean) is about/dedicated to my first guitar

5-the dream mentioned in the beginning of “Touch Me” has many symbols. The Den of Wolves is a reference to the world at large. The Fogotten King is an allusion to Satan. The Rabbit symbolizes fertility. Touch Me is about trust issues. half addressed to my lover, and half address to my enemies.

6- the Tah and Rahjan in “Back in the daze” are (respectively) the Donwan and Tragedy Bless from FM2d’s pk story. The third verse is me obtaining closure on the first girl i thought was my soulmate. The one and only song we recorded together is the BONUS track(21) on BWTPI2

7-the bonus track “Baby sis” is dedicated to my younger cousin. The Aunt i tell to reserve a room in heaven for me (Back n the Daze) is her late mother.
